New Client Session

A client’s initial visit is the most important of all sessions. This is why there is a special price for the first visit: 80 minute session for the price of a 50 minute session.

This initial 80 minute session allows Chris time to perform the following:

  • Review the clients medical history
  • Review/discuss the type of sports or activities the client performs
  • Perform a comprehensive evaluation of the client consisting of:
  • Range of Motion/Joint Mobility Testing
  • Strength Testing
  • Flexibility Testing
  • Postural Analysis

Following the evaluation, the client will then receive approximately a 50 minute massage, which will allow Chris to assess the client’s restrictions from soft tissue/muscular standpoint. Chris then determines what type of massage services will be the best fit for the client.

The client will leave the initial session with a comprehensive evaluation, a 50 minute massage session education into the management of his or her condition and a suggested treatment plan.

Sports Massage

  • In Season/Training Massage Session: This type of massage session is performed during the heart of an athlete’s training schedule. During most training schedules, as the miles begin to increase, the athlete’s muscles begin to fatigue and possible break down. This will result in poor response to training and possible result in injury. These sessions can be performed on a wide range of frequencies, from once or twice a week during peak training weeks, to once or twice a month during weeks of less training volume.  These sessions will address any issues that may arise during training and prevent them from evolving into a problem that may require loss of training time.

  • Pre Race Massage Session:  A pre race massage can be performed up to a week before the event.  This type of session should be performed during an athlete’s taper week. This treatment consisted of massage techniques that will rejuvenate the athlete’s muscles (especially the legs) by removing waste products that have built up during the intense training leading up the race. This is accomplished by increasing blood flow to the muscles, which brings the proper nutrients needed to allow for the muscles to recover and get the most out of the tamper week.  This will allow the athlete’s muscles to perform at their peak potential during the race and get the most return on your training investment.

  • Post Race Massage Session: A post race massage can be performed immediately after a race or up to a week following the race. This session that will focus on decreasing post race muscle soreness and will allow the athlete to return to his or her training schedule more quickly.  This is also the time to address any possible injuries that may have arose during the race, so the proper treatment plan can be implemented. This will ensure that the condition will not become chronic and the athlete will be able to return to training pain free.

BodyWork

BodyWork is a term used to encompass a wide range of massage and manual techniques. As a Physical Therapist and a Massage Therapist, Chris is able to blend his knowledge of both disciplines into a treatment session to better serve the needs of his clients.  There are certain types of techniques that a Physical Therapist is trained in and licensed to perform that a Massage Therapist is not to licensed to do. For example, if Chris finds a restriction in a client’s mobility of a joint, he is able to perform what is called joint mobilizations to restore proper movement. If the joint is moving properly, this will allow the surrounding muscles to move through their full range of motion.

BodyWork sessions incorporate the following techniques:

  • Deep Tissue Massage
  • Neuromuscular or Trigger Point
  • Joint Mobilizations
  • Dynamic Stretching

BodyWork sessions are tailored to the specific condition or needs of the client. As a Physical Therapist, Chris is educated in the treatment of a wide range of conditions. Such as:

  • Headaches
  • Neck pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Low Back pain (Sciatica)
  • Hip Pain
  • Knee pain
  • Foot/Ankle pain (plantar fasciitis)
